Besides the beautiful charity contributions going on by sponsors and exhibitors, one of the highlights of Giving Back LI will be the Chinese auction. Sponsors and committee members will be participating to donate to the Chinese auction with all sorts of assorted prizes.
Part of the attendee benefits will be discounted raffle tickets to the cool prizes in the Chinese auction. A percentage of any proceeds will be donated to charity, and at this moment, Giving Back LI has over 15 valuable and worthwhile charities including Diabetes Foundation, MADD, American Cancer Foundation, and more. I think that is a cool deal for the price of attendance. Donations to charity are the entire cornerstone behind Keely Harris’ brainchild and the Chinese auction just adds a fun aspect to raising money for charity.
With THAT said, please allow me to tell you about my contribution to Giving Back LI’s Chinese auction. Being a musician and a music podcaster, I have access to over 700 Long Island based original songwriters and artists. I thought a cool raffle prize would be local original music. I have asked several bands from Long Island to donate their CDs as part of the package.
From rock to jazz to country to heavy metal, I have an eclectic mix and a wide variety to offer the winner of this raffle. If you have never heard of the Mondays from Hauppauge or Finespun from Central Islip, this is your chance to experience new music from Long Island. These are bands that I have also podcasted on the Long Island Podcast Network. I will also be offering my own CD of smooth jazz music.
My goal is to include between 5 and 10 CDs in this prize for a value of $50.00 to $100.00. Not bad for an admission ticket under 10 dollars. This is just one example of the cool raffle prizes, but some of the prizes are worth well over $1,000.00.
There is no doubt in my mind that Giving Back LI will be raising a good amount of money for some of the best and most helpful charities on the planet.
I hope to see you there on October 14th!
